Volcanoes
Mrs. Huneycutt's pictures from the Big Island of Hawaii
While visiting some friends in 2016 on the Big Island of Hawaii, we rented bikes and biked out 6 miles on an asphalt road to the Kalapana lava flow. As we approached, it didn't look like much, just a few glowing rocks. Then the sun started to set and the hillside came alive with oozing, slow flowing lava! We also had a chance to see the Kilauea Caldera and drove up the highest mountain in Hawaii, Mauna Kea, which is actually a dormant volcano.
