Today we finished up our dream catchers! They came out beautiful and are hanging in the hall outside our door. Everyone picked such different patterns, yarns, and feathers making each one unique.
Today we did a Dream Catcher Greeting at Morning Meeting. I adapted this idea from the Responsive Classroom website's Spider Web Greeting found here. We called it a dream catcher instead of a spider web because today we are reading about dream catchers as part of our American Indians unit and will begin a dream catcher craftivity today as well. These past two weeks we have been working on several Thanksgiving themed activities. We started by sending home a feather for each of the student's to decorate with their families. Then we made one big thanksgiving turkey with the entire 2nd grade which is on display in the front hall near the cafeteria.
Another writing prompt we used was "How to Disguise a Turkey". We used these fun sticker activities from the Current catalog for inspiration.
The day before Thanksgiving Break each student made these adorable pine cone turkeys for a centerpiece to place on their Thanksgiving tables.
