Tonight was Community Night at Crozet and all 2nd grade families attending painted a stepping stone which will be placed in the rain garden habitat. While the rain garden is used by the whole school, it is the 2nd grade's focus project throughout the year. Thanks to all for turning out and supporting us in this school wide event.
PS: Students who did not get to come to Community Night will paint their stones in class on Friday!
Today was our second field trip of the year was to Amazement Square in Lynchburg and it was truly AMAZING! Our kids were so psyched to go after we completed a Virtual Tour yesterday in class so they could narrow down their free choice exploration time to the things they really wanted to do. We were guided through the Native American exhibit, explored the many hands-on exhibits, and had free time playing on the 4+ story climbing tower. So cool! Thanks to the 6 parent chaperones who helped make this a safe and fun field trip. Please send me any photos you may have of the exhibits or tunnel time with your group and I will add them to the slide show.
Today's STEM challenge was to build a wheelchair from the LEGO LearnToLearn sets. Students were given the choice to work in pairs or by themselves to make a wheelchair that would be fast, safe, look interesting and fun for a fictitious new girl to school named Maggie, that has used a wheelchair all her life. Students also had the option to include a place for Maggie's backpack. This is my favorite lesson activity from the LEGO LearnToLearn curriculum pack. I am sure if Maggie was real she would love any of these designs!
Today was our day and night time second and third grade musical performance of Squirm. The students were fabulous. They were so animated and happy to perform and the audience loved it. They should be proud of themselves! Thanks to all the parents who came to our day or night time performance. Thanks, also, to music teacher Mrs. Brown, for her awesome direction!
