After planning and buying our supplies from the Gingerbread House Store yesterday, we were all set to build and decorate today. What fun! Thanks to all the extra parent and grandparent hands on deck!
Yesterday Ms. Albertson from 4th grade delivered a plate of treats to our class. It came with a card that explained about the kindness plate. We used it as part of our morning meeting greeting. Each child greeted the next child in the cricle with, "Kindness to you____," After the 2nd child received the plate they replied with the same greeting and held the plate for the first child to take a piece of candy, and then turned to greet the next person. As the students munched on their surprise morning treat, I added our name to the bottom of the plate and then refilled it with more treats. The best part was when the entire class walked down to Mrs. Baker's class carrying the plate and chorused, "Kindness to you Ms. Baker's Class!"
Last Friday we used watercolors to paint our Holiday Traditions and today we posted them on our hall bulletin board along with their paragraphs describing their traditions. The students are really becoming comfortable with the medium and experimenting with mixing and overlaying colors as well as trying out different strokes and techniques. The bulletin board looks marvelousand reading all those traditions leaves me warm at heart! Note: Individual photos of the pictures will be posted to a gallery after they come down in January.
