Today was Miss Melson's last day! We declared it "Miss Melson Day" and had her wear a crown! After lunch we gave her a scrapbook. The front page said, "Our words for Miss Melson" and "Love from your first 2nd grade class." Then on each page it said "Miss Melson is..." with a word the student chose to describe her. It had a picture of the student and their name and a watercolor picture that the student made. Finally the back pages had photos of our class from throughout the year, and there were some empty pages left for her to store her letters and cards the students made for her. She loved it!
Then we all gave her items to put in her Teacher Survival Kit (below). She was very touched. Everything was great and happy, until the end of the day, when it set in that she was really leaving, and then the tears rolled! She promised to come visit and hopes to substitute at Crozet next semester, so I am certain we will see her again. She sure will be missed!!
