Today was storybook day and our fall party. The students decorated a cupcake, made flappy bats, and danced to the "Kids Halloween" station on Pandora. What fun!
Today students learned about colloids, something between a solid and liquid, by making Oobleck! Each year when I do this it makes such a mess I think about not doing it, but the kids love it sooo much, I can't give it up.
This evening was the school's Harvest Festival. Mrs. Huneycutt was running the Wheel of Fortune, gave away 275 stuffed animals, and got to take pictures of some pretty cute costumes!
Today we brought up the GoldieBlox kits to Mrs. Agee's 5th grade math class. And because we had used them before and they had not, we taught THEM how to use them. It was so cool!
Today we had our first Buddy Walk with 5th grade as part of our Morning Meeting. It was cool to get our first thing in the morning.
Students found out what happens when you mix baking soda and vinegar...a gas is formed! Such a fun way to teach that gasses do take up space.
To enrich our year-long study about plants and animals, the second grade took their first filed trip of the year to Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond.
Today we are finally getting to take our maps home. They took over a week of work, with tracing, making the map, painting, and finally labeling them. What a fun project. The students should be proud of all their hard work.
