As a culminating event to our China unit, 2nd grade held China Day. The day was packed with flying kites, learning how to use chopsticks, eating Chinese food, and viewing Mrs. Huneycutt's slides from her trip to China.
As a St. Patrick's Day writing prompt, students responded to "Who is worth more to you than gold?" Wow! Such caring students!
Some unseasonably warm days allowed us to get out and do some pre-spring gardening at recess.
Friday night was the Crozet Sock Hop run primarily by the Dad's of the school, including Berkeley's dad as DJ!
Today we went to Amazement Square in Lynchburg. We experienced the Native American and Ancient Civilizations special programs as well as toured the exhibits and 5 story tower. Here is a link of the web quest we did before the trip to get us ready to max out the day!
As part of our Investigations unit on data, students asked a survey question, then analyzed and created graphs and presented the results to the class. Come check out their work now on display in the hall outside our room.
Today was the 2-3 music performance of Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears. Our students did a fabulous job both! Thanks to all the parents who came back to school for the evening performance.
