Today we put up our Fall Watercolor Trees in the hall gallery. Each student picked their favorite piece of poetry that they have been working on over the past couple of weeks to go with it. Click here to go to our Fall Tree Gallery.
Today was our school's RED celebration. We started out with a video broadcast of Mrs. Crummie reading a book to us over the morning announcements. Then, to encourage students to Read Every Day, Mrs. Crummie camped out in our courtyard all day long reading books, one from each class. We sent her one or our class favorites, Two Bad Ants by Chris Van Allsburg. We visited Mrs. Crummie on our way to and from lunch. Can you spot her in the tent window?
Today we put up the feathers on our class turkey. It looks AWESOME! Thanks to all the families for contributing to this collaborative art project.
This family with a child in our class won the PTO Harvest Festival Raffle for a ride to school in a firetruck. How fun! Thanks Crozet Volunteer Fire Department. (PS Name with- held for web safety reasons.)
Today we took advantage of the nice weather and sketched trees outside before coming inside to paint our trees with watercolors. We will use these to inspire and accompany fall poetry and stories next week. Check out our Fall Tree Gallery here!
Today we used a reader's theater model t read and act out, The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything,by Linda Williams. In the end we made a scarecrow with
Two shoes going CLOMP, CLOMP,
One pair of pants going WIGGLE, WIGGLE,
One shirt going SHAKE, SHAKE,
Two gloves going CLAP, CLAP,
One hat going NOD, NOD,
One scary pumpkin head going BOO, BOO...and
...and scaring all the crows away!
